The 2nd Ratchasuda International Conference on Disability 2015 under the theme
"Beyond ASEAN Boundary for Inclusive Living of Persons with Disabilities"
from April 21st – 22nd, 2015

In the auspicious occasion of the 60th birthday of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Ratchasuda College, Mahidol University, held the 2nd Ratchasuda International Conference on Disability 2015 under the theme "Beyond ASEAN Boundary for Inclusive Living of Persons with Disabilities" from April 21st – 22nd, 2015 at the Miracle Grand Convention Hotel, Bangkok. In this occasion, Associate Prof. Tavee Cheausuwantavee, Ph.D., Dean of Ratchasuda College, Mahidol University gave the welcome speech and Clinical Prof. Udom Kachintorn, M.D., President of Mahidol University, gave the opening address for the opening ceremony.There were over 200 participants from various countries, such as, Japan, India, Indonesia, Australia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines, USA participated the 2-day conference.

In this conference, Ratchasuda was honoured to welcome Prof. Robert Stodden, Ph.D., Director of Center on Disability Studies, University of Hawaii at Manoa, USA to deliver a keynote address entitled "Inclusive Education for Persons with Disabilities: Opportunities and Challenges". The conference was also honoured to welcome Mrs. Napa Setthakorn, Director General of Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (NEP), Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, Thailand to give special speech on "Current Policy and Implementation of Thai Government on Inclusive Living of Persons with Disabilities". There was also a tribute to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and Her Great Contributions toward Persons with Disabilities delivered by Emeritus Prof. Poonpit Amatyakul, M.D., Secretariat of Ratchasuda Foundation, Thailand. Moreover, there was a panel discussion entitled "Inclusive Living in ASEAN and Beyond". Professionals from Asian countries included; Japan (Prof. Masahiko Suto, National Corporation University of Tsukuba University of Technology), Singapore (Mr. Kua Cheng-Hock, Honorary Life Member of the World Blind Union), Philippines (Dr. Amiel Adajar, Rehabilitation Medicine Doctor of the College of Rehabilitation Sciences, De La Salle Health Sciences Institute, Philippines) and Thailand (Mr. Suporntum Mongkolsawadi, Secretary General of the Redemptorist Foundation for People with Disability) participated in the panel discussion.

This conference promoted collaborations and built networks among organizations working in the disability field in ASEAN region and beyond. This conference also allowed persons with disability and professional who worked with and worked for persons with disability opportunities to exchange their knowledge and share ideas on issues such as education, rights, laws, media and technology through paper presentations of their academic work and research. Other activities included the disability forums on "Empowering Persons with Disabilities through Business partnership" and "Accessibility in ASEAN Community: Accomplishments and Challenges", exhibition booths related to disability were also available throughout the conference.
