Signing ceremony of an Agreement
on Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health &
Rights for Young People with Disabilities

On 6 November 2018, Dr. Wachara Riewpaiboon, Dean of Ratchasuda College, Mahidol University on behalf of President of Mahidol University attends the official signing ceremony of an Agreement on Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health & Rights for Young People with Disabilities between Ratchasuda College, Mahidol University, the United Nations Populations Fund (UNFPA), The Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand (PPAT) and Thailand Research Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (TRIP) at the Sukosol Hotel, Bangkok. The project is on The Rights to Health for PWDs is well recognized globally but their particular rights on reproductive health has been quite ignoring in Thai context. The related services still are under-developed and inaccessible. More important, this kind of right has often been violated. So, preventive & protective measures are very important. Adolescent pregnancy of girls and women with disabilities might be as an under-water part of the iceberg. As they might have been already forced sterilized. While those who are hardly access to related knowledge and information such as people who are blind and deaf. Those who have difficulties on mobility still have not enough to manage and protect themselves. So, the joint partnership for collaborative movement will made the Thai Prevention of Adolescent Pregnancy Act more inclusive and meaningful to all society members. Ratchasuda College, Mahidol University as an academic institute can contribute technically supports. We are very pleased to join this collaborative partnership. While further civic engagement of youth with disabilities, parents, teachers would be encouraged.
