Parents are the Best Teachers at Home: The Facilitative Learning Process Development at Home for Severe Disabled Children by Parents

Abstract

This research aimed to study the facilitative learning process development for disabled children at home by enhance the parent's participation and to enhance the good attitude and awareness of disabled children's parents. Disabled children's parents should have good knowledge, skills, understanding and environment to facilitative develop supplementary toys as a skilled improvement tools, which were invented by the researcher and cooperative with parents such as armchair, standing plate, push chair, parallel bar, and horse rider. During this study, data and disabled children' behaviors were collect and observe via performance observation form, objective evaluation form, and behavior observation form which were created by the researcher. In data analysis, statistics consist of percentage by compare pre-test and post-test were analyzed. The research found that the development of disabled children result such as they can sit on ground, balance standing, and walk across parallel bar. Moreover, they can express their feeling and emotion, and effective interact and communication with parents. The main success factor is the good cooperation from parents, teachers, and community. Finally, this can encourage parent to practice their children continually.
