The Development of Teacher's Learning Management in Special Education by using Folk Games and Activities for Social Skills Development of Children with Autism in Inclusive School

Abstract

The aims of this research were to develop and to study the result of the development of teachers learning management in special education by using folk games and activities to promote social skills for children with autism in inclusive schools. Participatory action research (PAR) was employed in this study. The target groups were 12 school personals in inclusive schools in academic year 2014. The Instruments used in this study were Social skills assessment of children with autism, action plan to use folk games and activities, In-depth interview, and from Future Search Conference of the person concerned. Data were analyzed using computer software ATLAS.Itb and descriptive statistics.

Research results were found that the teachers had developed their learning management in special education in area of 1) the principles of developing children with autism 2) the application of games and folk 3) evaluation plan 4) development of children with special needs, and 5) learning resources of local wisdoms for the development of children with autism. Teachers can apply their knowledge to promote social skills for children with autism in inclusive schools. The development of teachers learning management in special education impact on children with autism on their social skills: living with peers, self-control, and self- confidence.
